The alkalinity of the lube oil is crucial in any marine engine part. You must consider the alkalinity to control acidic corrosion caused by the sulphur produced by burning fuel.

Load Carrying Capacity

This is another essential characteristic when choosing the viscosity of your lube oil. Oil without the necessary load carrying capacity is forced out, and the friction will wear down the machine.

Thermal Conductivity

The friction inside the engine produces heat, and this heat has to be carried away to avoid the wear caused by thermal stress. The lube oil with the best thermal conductivity will cool down the internal parts of the machine to prevent the adverse effects of excessive heat.


Lube oil must-have metallic based additives to prevent a build-up of small deposits on the metal surface. This property is crucial in two-stroke engines as it prevents the formation of the deposits on the ring pack area, hence keeping the combustion space clean.
